Hi pals, my name is Akoyi M.
I originally started with a street-style blog when I was around the age of 15, but quickly had to stop due to a lack of time. Plus the fact that hunting down well dressed people in this city is like finding a snorkeling mask in the jungle. I was still trying to halfheartedly run the other blog and this one, but decided to focus all my attention here.
In writing this 'about me' I wondered what to say about style, and how to reference my own.
I am not going to tell you that I started this blog because I thought my style was super wonderful. I do not (and probably will never) claim to be a purveyor of amazing taste. I probably get it wrong as many times as I get it right. However my style has always elicited a reaction from people. This is my reason for hauling my trusty tripod out and turning it on myself.
My goal every morning is to get dressed quickly and have some ease in my life. So I was, and continue, to be shocked when people comment on what I am wearing. Whether positive or negative - they're thinking. Using this thought as the base for this piece of the internet, I would like to use this blog as a conductor. Where the juncture between clothing, photography and life will allow me to pull in my voice and turn that thought into a discussion. As much as I love clothes, I am currently studying for an undergraduate degree in Political Science, as such there's always a twist to the politics of clothing, the body and fashion as an industry in my head. Hopefully we can start and grow a conversation between us, along with conversations I'm blessed to have with others through interviews - for a while to come - maintaining the idea of this blog being a free sovereign space.
