Hold Up

This is what happens when you're sick and midterm revision has you looking like a startled deer in headlights. More than that the chill has finally settled and seems to be letting only the sun rays penetrate our view - no warmth will be had for quite a while. But like all things you never know with the weather. As I come to the near close of my last teenage year I find myself looking back a lot and giggling - what a fool I used to be is a conclusive statement as to how I feel. One things that really stands out is dressing for cold weather. I remember when I would stock up on Teen Vogue before back to school season approached - nothing on the pages would translate into my closet, seeing as my clothing budget was tied to the close watch of my parents. More than that I also didn't think that tons of layers were the cool in things to be done. If I could still sort of feel my fingers then yes, all systems were indeed a go. Now I balk at the idea of leaving home without at least two layers on. I have to admit that I also carry a knit hat and an extra scarf in my bag as well as emergency gloves. What really got me to love being covered up isn't growing up BUT the fact that I realized that your skin becomes extra wrinkly if you don't protect it - shallow thoughts but I want wrinkles from smiling etc and not my own I'm too cool for gloves mentality. Now if I could remember to go to the dry cleaners for this one coat - full length tan loveliness - then I'd be set.
