And here we have the quintessential dilemma when it comes to wearing a skirt in our quasi-fall season. I am not a fan of knits and so my question is whether the poofy ratio is enough to create a little conventional current where the skirts volume is concerned. This is probably a nothing more than wishful thinking.that someone in the faculty of science would do something practical for once (no shade, no shade). I think this skirt could be the beginning of a very beautiful thesis and future journal article. The fact that it's actually four whole sizes too big made me want to buy it more because of all the silhouettes I could play with. I think that as a whole we all need to get rid of the idea that you need to be skinny. Furthermore the idea that if you're a size four in one store you will forever endavour to squeeze yourself into a size four everywhere. Unless you enjoy looking like a sausage that wasn't cased properly go a size up if you need to. This was one of the most shocking things that I felt after moving here. People are preoccupied with size and brand, as opposed to the things that really matter like fit and tailoring. Thus you have people with great and could be improved bodies who all end up looking like shit. TOUGH LOVE. However if you use Google for something other than porn and cat videos and search for some useful information on say common stitching patterns and tailoring techniques EX) darts your life will be revolutionized. And honestly it's much better to end up buying something that's a little too big. That's what tailors are for (yes they're still around) you can get something taken in for maybe five to seven dollars.
If I'm being frank and delving into this a bit more I have found that you don't need to wait for your financial dream place to look good. I'm not saying that you should shop recklessly and charge things you frankly cannot afford to your credit card etc. What I am saying is that I have seen little difference between people who are wealthy and people who may be living paycheck to paycheck. Both parties seem to think that having an it bag will make your outfit 100 when you will really look like a 0 with a really nice bag. That's another thing I hate - girls or guys with thousand dollar bags who probably won't make rent.
As 2014 draws to the final months let's all try to pay attention to the things we've been ignoring or using to hide the places where we are zeros dreaming of a hundred. In other words you have four months to get your shit together. I will be doing so in a multitude of perplexing ensembles!
